 In Biology, Scholars Prep Science - 7th Grade

Dear Parents and students,

Can you believe the quarter is almost over?  Just one more week until fall break!  I have really enjoyed having the students in person this year.   Last week we saw yeast demonstrate both aerobic and anaerobic respiration. The yeast is being left to ferment over the weekend so we can see how anaerobic respiration works as well.  This week. we will karyotype our potential offspring to see what their traits may be.

Notes and Practice: 2.32 Cell Cycle
Cell Cycle Skit
Create a skit acting out the steps in the cell cycle with a partner. Be creative. 15 minutes to get ready to perform.

Karyotype Lab

Finish Karyotyping Lab

Read: 2.34 Mitosis
Read: 2.35 Reproduction
Notes and Practice: 2.36 Meiosis
Mitosis and Meiosis Essay
Explain what Mitosis and Meiosis are. How is mitosis different than meiosis? Draw a diagram showing both happening. Give examples of species that use each. 180 words.
