This Week in Physics (Oct 26-30)
Dear Parents and students,
We are back in the thick of it. The students are now comfortable in class, but this is usually the time when they start to feel like slacking a bit on their academic work. Some of the students have had trouble concentrating and staying focused as a result. Please make sure to encourage them and pour praise on them for their hard work. They are doing very well.
It is time to begin thinking about the Science Fair and STEM Fest. Students must choose their topic or STEM Fest choice by November 4th. Here is the link for them to choose the topic (must be accessed from a school computer):

Here is our class schedule for the week:

Simple Machines Lab
Bring in materials for your Rube Golberg contraption
7.2 Machine
Research Rube Goldberg Contraptions
Rube Goldberg Contraption Design
Using at least 5 simple machines, draw a blueprint for a Rube Goldberg contraption that you will build in class tomorrow. Label each simple machine in the blueprint.
Your contraption must fit in a large cardboard box. Include a list of materials
Bring in your materials tomorrow and begin construction- including a large cardboard box.
7.3 Power
SIMPLE MACHINES PROJECT
Using at least 5 simple machines, create a Rube Goldberg contraption. Calculate the kinetic energy at the end of the machine and the IMA for each simple machine used.
You will finish this project on Monday.
Instructional videos for each day are found in your CK-12 reading.
All Practices must be completed with at least 80% mastery to be accepted.
