This Week in Physics (Nov 1-5)
Dear Parents and students,
This week we will begin our Rube Goldberg Contraption Project. The students will build a complex machine out of several simple machines and then do calculations based on their invention. This is always a student favorite.
We are quickly approaching the holiday season between Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas. This can be a difficult time for the students to concentrate because of the anticipation for these times. Let’s all stay focused so we can enjoy our time off and not be burdened with projects and homework!
Here is our class schedule for next week:
UNIT 6 Group Test
Unit 6 Individual Test
7.1 Work
Simple Machines Lab
Bring in materials for your Rube Golberg contraption
7.2 Machine
Research Rube Goldberg Contraptions
Rube Goldberg Contraption Design
Using at least 5 simple machines, draw a blueprint for a Rube Goldberg contraption that you will build in class tomorrow. Label each simple machine in the blueprint.
Your contraption must fit in a large cardboard box. Include a list of materials
Bring in your materials tomorrow and begin construction- including a large cardboard box.
7.3 Power
SIMPLE MACHINES PROJECT
Using at least 5 simple machines, create a Rube Goldberg contraption. Calculate the kinetic energy at the end of the machine and the IMA for each simple machine used.
You will finish this project on Monday.
