This Week in Biology (August 24-28)
Dear Parents and students,
I have really enjoyed working with your students this week. They are a blast! Students come from such diverse backgrounds. Some come from rigorous academic programs and others from less rigorous education experiences. For parents, one thing that you may want to consider this year is that your student is encouraged to research in Biology. What does that mean? Well, it starts with the idea that each student will attempt to find answers for themselves by doing research instead of going to their parents on the weekends and asking them to answer all their questions. If your student has come from a background where they have not needed to do intense research before they may be frustrated when you do not directly answer their questions, but please redirect them to “look it up” for themselves. This is very appropriate. They need to be able to do this for their academic future. Feel free to help them by giving great search questions or terms for Google, but please do not answer anything for them! This is all part of the process of them becoming self learners. They may also contact me if they need assistance.
Also, please have your student look over the labs and see what they need each week for supplies so they are prepared beforehand. This will save them a lot of work since they will be prepared to complete their labs during class time.
Here is our class schedule for the week:
2.5 Cytoplasm and Cytoskeleton
2.6 Nucleus
Practice 2.6 ONLY
Group Project: Nucleus Project
2.7 Ribosomes and Mitochondria

Instructional videos for each day are found in your CK-12 reading.
All Practices must be completed with at least 80% accuracy to receive credit.
All work is due Friday by 3:30 PM
